History

OF THE PROPERTY

The Bartel’s Family Restaurant and Winery was founded in 1937 at 120 South I Street in Pensacola. The specialties of the house were southern fried chicken and homemade wine. Located immediately under the restaurant, Bartel’s 30,000 gallon winery was complete in all details from the pressing of grapes to aging in large oak casks to final bottling.

Mr. Bartel personally supervised each process to ensure the highest quality product.

The story of the Bartel’s restaurant is an important part of Pensacola history that we want to preserve. Thoughtful consideration was put into planning this project. We wanted this development to honor the Bartel’s name and their contribution to the city we love.
